I'm a little bit of everywhere all over the place. Long ago I thought to give my blog some sort of direction... but I think my short attention span and crow like love for shiny things is too much for one blog to over come.

Game, set, and match.

“What do you mean he can’t be on the host committee? I’ve spent too much time on this trying to get him exposure. I’m tired of you’re little scheduling conflicts Alex.”

“No, David. You are not listening. It’s not a matter of scheduling…

“So where do you get off telling me, Terry’s campaign Manager, what he can and can’t do. I’m the one he’s relying on to get him into office. Why do you always have to come up with some reason to have a drama? Do you need the attention? Is this a power struggle?”

“…it’s a matter of law.”

“What do you think you are talking about?”
“I’m positive of what I’m talking about. It’s about keeping this campaign straight. That’s what its always about between us. It’s about you thinking campaign paraphernalia sales is a source of unaccountable petty cash. It’s about you thinking no one but you has a clue what’s going on and lashing out when you’re held accountable, and this time its about avoiding investigation. According to the new rules and regulations, specifically the Bi-partisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), a federal candidate is prohibited from "soliciting, receiving, directing, transferring or spending non-federal funds (soft-money) in furtherance of a federal campaign. AND the candidate is also prohibited from soliciting, receiving, directly; transferring or spending inconsistently with federal rules even for a state or local candidate. That means that he can not help fund-raise for any other candidate where he solicits money from federally prohibited sources or in excess of federally capped amounts. He is allowed to appear as a "featured speaker" at a fundraising event, but cannot be someone committed to raising money inconsistently with federal campaign finance rules. If you spent more time paying attention to what the rules of the game were instead of making up your own so you look like you are the one who can win, you might be successful.”
“Don’t make this personal Alex. If you had a concern you should have addressed it in private” David slammed the office door
“You’re the one who came down the hall to my office on a rampage.”
“After you sent me an order telling me what Terry can and can’t do”
“This is ridiculous David. You fight me on every issue, and most of them are legal issues. Do you have no scruples? Are you asocial?”
“How dare you try to impugn my character when you are soliciting other clients under Terry’s nose?”
“That’s it. You get out or I will”
“So leave”
“One last thing David. I’m getting an attorney to help me with the FEC filing. From the information you’ve offered every time I’ve come to you for help I don’t believe you know what I’m asking, let alone what you are talking about”

Alex finished writing in her journal. It was best to document everything while it was still fresh in her mind. At first she had thought that David didn’t know what he was doing, then she became suspicious that he was also playing a dangerous and illegal game with Terry’s campaign. When she had questions about some funds raised and had asked David he had laughed at her making some comment about it coming from the old boys network. When she had asked him about in-kind contributions from hosts. What they spent. He had ball parked and when she told him that they had to return Cary Philips check because with the event and his contribution he had exceeded the limits. David blew up. “We’re NOT returning his check. Just don’t put anything down for his in-kind”. When she tried to broche these issues with Terry he always became very distracted and suddenly busy. He just didn’t want to know.
